PAL
is partnering with the Mouveman Peyizan Papaye
to build a school in Haiti modeled on the Brazilian
permaculture schools. The MPP is a fifteen thousand
member national grass roots movement that has
survived Haiti’s turmoil and unflinchingly
continues to build a solid organizational base
for sustainable development.
Three consecutive groups of their young leaders
have completed intensive training in our schools
in Brazil over the last two years. In 2005 Brazilian
instructors will travel to Haiti to continue the
educational program and provide on site technical
assistance in constructing the new school and
its self reliant energy and water systems.
The MPP has formed the Instituti de Permakulti
ak Kominote Ecolojik de Siguerito – EPKES
to manage the school which is destined to become
a showpiece for sustainable skills training servicing
grassroots leaders throughout the Caribbean. This
south to south sharing of resources and information
is not only very practical but gives teeth to
the whole concept of sustainable development.
